Free ATS score checker for your resume
Upload your resume or paste the text and see how an applicant tracking system is likely to read it — a score out of 100, every check explained, and a fix for each one.
Eight checks, all shown to you
No ATS publishes an official score, so we don’t pretend to have one. Each check below is worth the points shown; a pass earns them all, “improve” earns half, “fix” earns none. The keyword check only counts when you paste a job description.
| Check | Points | What it looks for |
|---|---|---|
| Text an ATS can read | 20 | Selectable text, not a scan or image; no garbled fonts; flags tables, text boxes and columns in Word files. |
| Standard section headings | 20 | Experience (or Projects for freshers), Education and Skills under names an ATS recognises. |
| Contact details | 10 | Email and phone in the body text — not only in an image or the page header. |
| Length | 10 | Enough words to describe your work, and no more than 2–3 pages. |
| Consistent date format | 10 | Dates with months, in one format, so your years of experience can be worked out. |
| Bullet points | 10 | Short bullets per role instead of dense paragraphs. |
| Quantified results | 10 | Numbers in your bullets — %, ₹, team size, users, time saved. |
| Job description keyword match | 20 | Only when you paste a JD: how many of its key terms your resume uses. |

Frequently asked
An ATS (applicant tracking system) is the software companies use to collect and filter applications. There is no single official ATS score — each system parses and ranks resumes its own way. This checker scores the things ATS parsers commonly trip on: unreadable text, missing contact details, non-standard headings, length, date formats, bullets, numbers and, if you paste a job description, keyword match.
Yes. You get your full score and every fix without signing up or paying, and you can check as many resumes as you like.
No. Your file is read inside your browser and is never uploaded to our servers, so there is nothing to store. We only record a few numbers, such as the score and the word count — never the text.
On this checker, 80 or above means the basics are in place for most ATS; 60 to 79 means a few fixes will help; below 60 means something is likely blocking parsing, such as an image-based PDF or missing headings. A high score is not a guarantee of a shortlist — it means the software can read you properly.
You don’t have to. Without one you get the format and structure checks. With one, you also see which of the job’s key terms your resume already uses and which are missing — add them only where they are true for you.
Text-based PDFs and Word .docx files, or you can paste the text. Old .doc files can’t be opened here (save as .docx or PDF). Scanned or photographed resumes can’t be read — and many ATS can’t read them either.
