What FastApply does well
Credit where due: FastApply’s core pitch is real. It runs as a browser extension that submits applications from your own browser — its site says credentials never leave your device — and it claims around two minutes per application across 20+ boards including Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor. The ₹433/month Starter Sprint buys 200 applications with no other subscription required, and you get 5 free applications with no card to test it. If your strategy is volume on mainstream boards, that’s a fair price for what you get.
One thing to check before you pay: as of 31 August 2026, FastApply’s India landing page says paid plans "start at ₹499/month" while its pricing page lists the Starter Sprint at ₹433/month. Both are their own numbers — verify which one the checkout charges you.
Resume tailoring: check which tier you’re actually buying
This is the biggest practical difference, and it hides in FastApply’s tier list. Per-job "AI-tailored resumes and cover letters" appear on the Pro Sprint (₹866/month) and above — the ₹433 Starter Sprint lists resume profiles and application volume, not per-JD tailoring. So the cheap FastApply plan is closer to a mass-apply tool: the same profile, sent many times.
Scout tailors on every paid path. Before each application it rewrites your resume’s summary, skills, and key bullets against that specific job description, scores the result, and rewrites again if the ATS score lands below 95. Cover letters are generated per role, not from a template. Where the automation runs
Unusually, both tools run on your side of the fence. FastApply is a browser extension submitting from your own browser session; Scout’s plugin runs inside Claude Code on your machine, where resume tailoring also happens locally (on the Copilot CLI host, tailoring is done on AgentCo’s servers instead — we say so plainly). Scout publishes its full data flow in the plugin’s TRANSPARENCY.md; run summaries sync to your dashboard, and the only other calls are to job boards.
The shared, honest caveat: neither tool works with the lid closed. Scout runs overnight, but your laptop stays on. FastApply applies while your browser is open. If you want automation that runs with your machine off, neither of these is that — a cloud tool like myjobb is, with different trade-offs.
